Special Stitches and Instructions
If you prefer, video tutorials for Magic ring, the Popcorn Stitch and the Front Post Double crochet, and the alternate double crochet are available on my YouTube Channel.
Front Post Double Crochet Instructions
Yarn over and place your hook around the post from front to back of the next double crochet or front post double crochet.
Yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook.
Yarn over and pull through 2 the last 2 loops.
Popcorn Stitch Instructions
Work 4 single crochet (sc) stitches in the same stitch.
Drop the loop from your hook.
Insert your hook from back to front under the top 2 loops of the first single crochet of the group.
Yarn over and pull through the first single crochet.
Chain one.
This will make your Popcorn stand on the opposite side of your work, which is where you want it.
Alternate Front Post Double Crochet Join
This join Is used to make a smooth transition from a double crochet to a front post double crochet row at the end of a double crochet or another Half double crochet row. It also eliminates the standard chain 3 and prevents a seam.
Yarn over and place your hook around the back of a double crochet or front post double crochet post just like you would to make a front post double crochet.
Yarn over and draw up a loop around the post.
yarn over and pull through one loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through two loops again.
Alternate Double Crochet
In the indicated stitch make a slightly loose sc. Place hook in the left loop of the single crochet. Yarn over and pull through loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.
Back side Slip Stitch
Whenever the pattern calls for a slip stitch, place your hook through the back of the top of the stitch to slip stitch.
